Travel Erdek Town, Balikesir, Turkey

Once known as ancient Erteka, Erdek is a town just 14 km northwest of Bandirma. One of the Sea of Marmara’s oldest and most famous resort areas, it offers pristine beaches and every type of accommodation. Erdek, a county of Balikesir, is an attractive touristic centre with its ancient cities, open air museum, sandy beaches and crystal clear sea. It was known as Artake in ancient times. Artake experienced the rule of the Milets, Hellens, Romans and Byzantines in 7th century B.C. Artake was conquered by Suleyman Pasha, son of Orhan Ghazi in 1339, and was dominated by Ottomans.

Climate
The summers of Erdek are hot and dry while winters are mild and rainy.
