During the Ottoman period, the ethnic structure of the villages of Litros and Avas, which were Greek settlements in Mahmutbey, changed with the Treaty of Lausanne. In the period of the Republic, the villages which were divorced when the people of Greek origin emigrated to Greece, the Turks from East Mekodanya were seduced. Litros and Avas, which remained in the position of a exchange village for many years, retained their names until the 1930’s. With the change in 1937 – 1940, Litros-Essenler was Turkified as Avas-Share. The area is a residential area from the Byzantines. Later, when the Greeks left the villages of Litros (Essenleri) or Avas (Shaper), the State accepted these villages as a housing place and placed the exchange migrants from Greece in these villages.
