Perched on a steep rocky outcrop approximately 7 km from the center of Doğubayazıt, Doğubayazıt Castle (Doğubayazıt Kalesi) stands proudly above the surrounding plain near the magnificent İshak Pasha Palace. An Ancient Stronghold
The exact date of the castle’s construction remains unknown. However, archaeological evidence, including a carved Urartian rock relief and inscriptions discovered within the fortress, suggests that the site originated during the Kingdom of Urartu, which ruled this region between the 9th and 6th centuries BC.

Through the Ages
