The name Dalyanagzi refers to two distinct coastal locations in southern Turkey, both known for their natural beauty but located in different provinces and offering very different travel experiences. One lies near Demre in Antalya, while the other is part of the protected Dalyan Delta in Muğla.
Dalyanagzi (Andriake) – Demre, Antalya
Located approximately 6 kilometres west of Demre in Antalya Province, this Dalyanağzı corresponds to the ancient harbour settlement of Andriake, once an important port of Lycia.
Today, the area is known for its peaceful sandy beach and relaxed atmosphere, making it an excellent alternative for visitors seeking a quieter coastal experience away from the more crowded tourist beaches of Antalya. The shoreline is ideal for swimming, sunbathing, and enjoying the natural surroundings of this historically rich coastline.
One of its most important roles today is as a departure point for boat excursions to Kekova Island, home to the famous Sunken City. From here, visitors can easily join daily boat tours that explore crystal-clear waters, hidden bays, and submerged archaeological remains just offshore.
Access to Dalyanağzı (Andriake) is straightforward, with travelers typically driving from Antalya or Kaş to Demre, followed by a short onward journey of around 6 kilometres to the coastal site.
Dalyanağzı Beach – Dalyan, Muğla (İztuzu Beach Area)
The second Dalyanağzı is located in the Dalyan region of Muğla Province, near Fethiye. This area refers to the western, protected end of İztuzu Beach, also known as Turtle Beach, where the Dalyan River Delta meets the Mediterranean Sea.
This stretch of coastline is one of Turkey’s most environmentally protected natural areas. Surrounded by reed beds, wetlands, and lagoon systems, it offers a unique landscape where freshwater and seawater environments blend together. The beach is famous for its pristine sand and unspoiled setting, making it one of the most visually striking coastal areas in the country.
It is also an important nesting site for the Caretta caretta (loggerhead sea turtle). For this reason, access is strictly regulated, and the beach is closed to visitors between 20:00 and 08:00 during nesting season to protect the turtles and their eggs.
Reaching Dalyanağzı Beach is part of the experience itself. There is no direct road access, and visitors must take a boat from Dalyan town, typically a scenic 30–40 minute journey through the famous reed-lined channels of the Dalyan Delta.
Two Places, One Name
Although they share the same name, these two Dalyanağzı locations offer very different experiences: one is a quiet historical coastal gateway in Antalya, while the other is a protected ecological wonder in Muğla. Together, they reflect the diversity of Turkey’s Mediterranean coastline, where ancient history and natural beauty exist side by side.
