Türkiye uses a three-digit telephone area code system for fixed-line numbers. When calling a landline number from another city within Türkiye, the relevant area code must be dialed before the local telephone number.

For international calls, Türkiye’s country code is +90, followed by the city area code (without the leading zero) and the local number.

Example:

Calling Istanbul from abroad:
+90 212 XXX XXXX (European side)
+90 216 XXX XXXX (Asian side)

  • Mobile phone numbers in Türkiye do not use city area codes. They generally begin with prefixes such as 0501, 0532, 0542, 0555, etc.
  • Istanbul has two separate fixed-line codes:
    • 212 for the European side
    • 216 for the Asian side
  • Some neighbouring provinces may share similar codes, such as:
    • 322 – Adana and Osmaniye
    • 342 – Gaziantep and Kilis

Knowing Türkiye’s area codes is useful for travelers, businesses, hotels, car rental companies, and anyone making reservations or contacting local services throughout the country.
