Travel Tire, Izmir, Turkey

Tire is a district and municipality located in İzmir Province, Turkey. It is predominantly urbanized at a rate of 55.8%. The center of the tire is located 80 km to the southeast from the starting point of the traditional center of İzmir (Konak Square in Konak) and is positioned 46 km inland from the closest shoreline in the Gulf of Kuşadası to its west. The Tire district is adjacent to the districts of Selçuk (west), Torbalı (north-west), Bayındır (north), and Ödemiş (east), all located within İzmir Province, while its southern boundary is shared with Aydın Province. The physical characteristics of the district are shaped by the alluvial plain of the Küçük Menderes River in the north and by the mountains that border the parallel alluvial valley of the Büyük Menderes River, which flows between Aydın and the Aegean Sea in the south. There exists a Jewish community.

Benefiting from its rich soil and favorable climate, the economy of the Tire district heavily depends on the cultivation and processing of agricultural items, particularly figs, cotton, corn, and other grains, cash crops such as tobacco and sesame, fruits including watermelons, cherries, peaches, and pomegranates, as well as dried fruits like walnuts and chestnuts.

The tire center features a charming historic district filled with notable examples of Islamic architecture, along with vibrant markets on Tuesdays and Fridays, showcasing the impact of the diverse communities from nearby villages. These two markets held on two specific days each week are well-known throughout the broader area and among excursionists and tourists for the artisanal products available for purchase, drawing in a substantial number of customers. An annual occasion that attracts large crowds to Tire is among the most vibrant and traditional festivities in western Turkey, celebrating Nevruz Day on the third Sunday of March.
