Near Trabzon, south of Akcaabat, lovely highland meadows Karadag, Hidirnebi and Erikbeli are ideal hiking and picknicking grounds. The road inland from Trabzon winds through spectacular mountain landscape before reaching the Zigana Tunnel, the longest in Turkey.
