Yassiada is a small island. The width is 185 meters, the length is 740 meters. One is the pointy one and the other is the flat one from the two Philanthropists who are flat-looking. Its terrain is flat, but its coasts often descend perpendicular to the sea. This is one of the exiled places of Byzantium.
In history, it has suffered invasions of the Latinos and Russians, and after the conquest of Istanbul it has not been interested in the Yassida and the monastery on it. Sir Henry Bulvver, England’s Istanbul Expedition, bought the island in 1859, built some strange, castle-like buildings on the island and built a zira. Later, the island was sold to Egypt’s Khidivi ismail Pasha. However, Ismail did not deal with the zoning of the island in Pasha.
Yassiada was acquired by the Navy in 1947 and a modern marine education facility was established here. Ada’s real fame comes from the May 27, 1960 coup and the subsequent court convictions of Prime Minister Adnan Menderes and the execution of members of the government, Fatin Rush Zorlu and Hasan Polatkan.
