Sultangazi is bordered to the east by the Eyüp district, to the north by the Başakşehir district, to the west by the Esenler and Başakşehir districts, and to the south by the Gaziosmanpaşa district. Within the borders of Sultangazi Municipality, there are 15 neighborhoods. There are 2 neighborhoods not included in the planning area: Habibler–1 and Yayla. The TEM motorway that runs through Sultangazi district marks the southern boundary of the planning area. There is a military zone to the north and northwest. The western boundary is bordered by the Esenler district, and the northeastern and eastern boundaries are bordered by the Eyüp district.

According to the data following the 2023 Local Elections, the population of the neighborhoods included within the scope of our establishment law is 532,802, making the district one of the significant areas in Istanbul for immigration. It particularly receives migrants from Sivas, Tokat, Malatya, Çankırı, Kastamonu, Adıyaman, Erzurum, Thrace, and the Balkans. According to the 2023 general population census, it has been determined that the district center has a young population.
